We are one of hundreds of Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Clubs (AFVBCs) which are popping up worldwide.
Launched in March 2016 Shrewsbury AFVBC is independent of any other organisation and is currently run by a team of 11 admins. SAFVBC is recognised as a support group by the Armed Forces Covenant and is supported by our local AFC team.
The informal nature and relaxed atmosphere at our AFVBC allows members to feel like they are back in the fold with their military family, and because of the informalities members really feel at ease. Although the clubs are for HM Forces Veterans and serving members, we at Shrewsbury are family friendly and encourage our members to bring their family along to breakfast. Our member’s ages range from 18 to 97 years old, we are men and women from all 3 branches of HM Forces. We also welcome members of foreign armed forces to join us.
When attending Shrewsbury AFVBC there are no fees or subs pay; we are not a business or charity; we do not exist to raise funds for any national charity, organisation or business. Our club exists simply to facilitate veterans and serving personnel, meeting face to face, in a relaxed, safe, social environment, whilst indulging in a healthy portion of service banter and a tasty breakfast; that is our primary aim and function above all others.
There are no dress codes and members join us for breakfast when they want to; no apologies are needed if they are unable to come along. However, that said, a day or two after a Shrewsbury AFVBC gathering, members on our Facebook group will receive an invite to our next breakfast date. We do ask that if you are intending to come along that you accept the invite, so we have a rough idea of numbers for the chef.
